Last year was a very exciting year for Karl personally as he married his partner of 23 years in a secret ceremony. Alan Hughes had popped the question in surprise proposal live on air on Ireland AM following the YES vote for equality. The loving couple had previously commited in a civil service in 2011.
In 2016 at the Gossie Awards (Goss.ie) They too the award for best celebrity couple - wile Alan scooped the award for best male TV Presenter.

Karl has been the script writer for Family Fortunes on TV3. He was voted one half of Ireland's most stylish couple by the readers of V.I.P magazine in 2012.

As a composer he has won many song contests and been involved in Eurovision twice. His song LOVE? was a huge hit, spending 3 months in the pop charts. 2014 saw Eoghan Quigg take his amazing The Movie Song into the charts.

In 2013, the prestigious Berkely College of music, in the USA, chose his composition TWILIGHT to be performed by their orchestra and it was streamed live over the internet. Previous composers have gone on to write some of Broadways top shows. He spent 2013 writing with some of the world's top pop producers and his song, 'Another You', was released in December by beautiful Russian popstar Catrine; gaining over 135,000 youtube hits in 2 days. He has had some very exciting song-writing projects over the last few years.

Last year Karl spent a lot of time on the promotional tour with His Song "The Movie Song" with Singer karl Daly .

He is a regular contributer to The Mooney show on RTE Radio One.
He is very proud of the panto's humble beginnings in St. Anthony's hall, and how it has grown to be an annual favourite by so many of you. He is extremely thankful to you all, for your continued and loyal support and to his talented and hard-working cast and crew. He hopes you all love this years panto.....as much as he does!!!
